Google TV Streamer freezes with 4K video

I tried two different PD USB C hubs (60W and 100W PD) with a fast USB Stick (SanDisk Extreme Pro) and the video (4K HEVC AAC 5.1 audio - ~4.4GB for 100min.) freezes at specific scenes. Also tried different Media Apps (e.g. VLC, Nova and Kodi) all of them with the same result.

I also have a decent HDMI, not sure if it's v2.1 but that shouldn't be the problem. Any ideas?

Hi LucvdMullen,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your Google TV Streamer freezes with 4K video at specific scenes. Thank you for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you have tried to resolve the inconvenience so we can provide you alternatives to resolve it. No worries, help is here.

Before I start providing assistance, I have a few questions for you:

  • Is your Google TV Streamer power-saving mode turned on?
  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • Is the Google TV Streamer firmware updated?
  • How far from the router is your Google TV Streamer?
  • Could you please double-check if your Google TV Streamer is connected to a WiFi network on the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz band?
  • Could you please enable, disable, or adjust the motion compensation mode on your TV display settings menu?

In response to your question about how to determine whether you are using the HDMI 2.1 cable required for the Google TV Streamer to function, you can compare it to this example of an HDMI certified 2.1 cable.

Thanks for your kind attention. I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
