Google TV Streamer turns off TV

Hi,

Recently bought the new Google TV Streamer and was very happy with it until I discovered that it turns off and on the TV at random times.

What happens is that the sounds cuts off at first, then the screen goes black shortly thereafter. The TV then quickly reboots with the TV start up screen and whatever I've been watching on the Streamer is paused/or continues playing where I left without sound until I restart the stream.

I bought it to replace my Chromecast with Google TV, and I've never had any similar problem with that device. I've tried turning off CEC and factory reset but it keeps on happening anyway.

So the only difference between the new setup and the old with the Chromecast is really the HDMI 2.1 cable that I bought to use with the Streamer. I've tried two cables, both 2.1, and the issue is still there. Is it the 2.1 HDMI version that overloads the system, or is it simply a faulty Streamer?

My old Chromecast did the same thing, and I'm having the same issue with my Google TV Streamer. I think it's an issue with the ARC port on my TV and the resolution set to automatic and match content range. I have also tried multiple HDMI cable 2.1, 2.0 and older with the same effect. I'm going to try using my Sound bar EARC in witch candy handle a bigger load. That took care of it. So it's either update your TV or use a newer beefier soundbar with a top load EARC. Using OMN 1500 watt sound bar I just got. I have an older Vizio D70 TV.

Sorry for the autocorrect witch, lol.

Wow, you are right, it's connecting the soundbar through ARC that is the problem. I connected it though optical instead, and the problem is fixed. Thank you!! Google should really look into it though, there is much better sound through HDMI ARC than optical, so I hope it's just a bug that needs to be adressed in a software update.

I have the same issue when connected with ARC.

Turns out optical wasn't the answer either. The TV doesn't turn itself off anymore like it did through ARC , but now the picture and sound slowly desyncs until i restart the Streamer.

I'm getting this also.

I have my GTVS linked up to my TV and my TV is also linked up to my surround sound via HDMI. Every now and again while watching a film or show, the TV will turn off and the surround sound would also turn off...When I turn the TV back on, the GTV is on but a blank screen and the sound doesn't come out from the TV unless I do a Restart or Factory Reset.

Never had this issue with my CCWGTV 😕

Yeah, I had to disconnect the soundbar entirely. When connected through ARC the TV kept turning off, and when I changed to optical the sound and video slowly desyncs the longer the Streamer is on.

I'm really hoping for a hotfix coming soon, because I like that it's snappier and has more storage than the CCWGTV.
