The Google TV streamer has always worked with my first part Sony TV remote, about 1-2 weeks ago it suddenly does not respond to direction or play pause buttons on the Sony remote. I confirmed that remote work with the TVs built in menus but just not with Google TV, now I have to use the included remote which is cumbersome. Possible bug in the recent firmware update?

Hi @Theaaronstewart,
Thank you for posting in the community. I understand you are having trouble with your Sony TV remote no longer controlling your Google TV Streamer (directions, play/pause), even though the remote still works fine on the TV's own menus. I'll be happy to provide you with more information.
The Google TV Streamer's primary controller is its included remote. Your Sony remote was working due to HDMI-CEC communication, which allows the TV to 'talk' to the streamer. Because this control protocol is highly sensitive, that control is not considered standard functionality and is easily disabled by updates, which is why your remote stopped responding suddenly.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards,
Derick.
