Google TV streamer sound randomly drops for a second

Hello,

Ever since I switched from my old Android TV box to the Google TV streamer, I'm having sound issues on every video app. The sound randomly drops for a second and comes back. Sometimes the problem doesn't happen for a whole movie, sometimes it happens every few minutes. Does not seem to be related to a single app (happens on Disney+, Prime Video, Youtube, Plex).

I've tried every sound settings offered in my TV settings and in the Google TV streamer settings but nothing seems to fix this.

Any help with this would be appreciated, I contacted french support about the issue but they didn't offer any help.

This may sound silly but, have you tried a newer HDMI cable (version 2.1) , just to be sure its not the actual cable ? I have seen that a lot recently.

Yes, the cable is a HDMI 2.1 cable.

do you have another hdmi cable you could swap out, again just to check that the cable itself isnt faulty?  Another error check you can do is hook the tv streamer up to another tv to see if it happens there (just trying to isolate the issue)

Already tried with a different câble (a new one) with the same result.

I don't have another TV to try it on but I found a post on Reddit with the exact same issue with a different TV than mine.

What type of sound system are you using, the TV speakers, or an external unit (IE Soundbar, surround sound, etc)

I have the Google TV streamer connected to the HDMI 1 port of the TV and a Samsung hw q800c soundbar connected to the earc HDMI port of the TV. Both are connected using HDMI 2.1 cables.

quick google search found lots of similar issues with that soundbar, I am NOT blaming the soundbar, but my suggestion would be, run sound through the TV speakers for a bit, see if the issue still happens.  If it does, we can safely say it is the TV streamer, if it does not, then the issue may lie with the soundbar itself.  I know you are going to say, well it worked with the other device, but still, have to identify the issue here.   https://www.reddit.com/r/Soundbars/comments/17ropga/weird_q800c_problem/

Tried resetting the soundbar which didn't change anything. I'm not surprised since the symptoms were not the same but it was worth a try.

Thank you. It doesn't seem to be the same issue but I'll try resetting the soundbar as stated in the reddit post.

Here is the reddit post I found with the same issue as mine https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/1fxmjfw/google_streamer_audio_drops_out_randomly/
