Google home not working with sony smart tv built in chrome cast.

I setup my google home mini today and activated voice match and personalised results. When using voice commands it would play shows from my netflix account on my sony bravia smart tv. 

When I setup voice match and linked media services for another household member and they tried to use voice commands to play tv shows, the google home would say “I am not able to cast to Android TVs, please use you android tv remote”. 

Despite this, I was still able to use voice commands to the google home to play my content. 

Upon factory resetting the TV, neither of us are able to use voice commands to control the tv via the built in chrome cast (greeted by the please use android tv remote message from google home) and we also are now unable to use the tv remote in the google home app. The button for the remote does not appear and instead says at bottom of screen “Full remote unavailable. Make sure that your streaming device has the latest software.” The remote was available to both of us before the factory reset. 

Updating software of TV did not solve issue

All devices are connected to same wifi network. 

Casting works from phone to tv just not for google home voice commands.

We appreciate your efforts. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues controlling your TV using the Google Home Mini via voice command. Let's try to get to the bottom of this. What is the firmware version of your TV? How about the Google Home app version on your phone?

 

Please reset your Home Mini and unlink your TV from the Google Home app. Once done, set up your speaker and TV on a new home structure.
