Google tv streamer voice search doesn't search

I've had this issue for a while now, from memory day one, resetting the remote doesn't work. Which was the recommended fix by a community specialist. 

I've tried clearing device cache and restarting. That doesn't help. Am I missing an app that needs to be activated or installed. 

Is there a solution that doesn't involve resetting the entire device to factory?

Same issue on all 3 Google Stream 4K devices I have in the house. It just started a few days ago

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with a voice search problem on your Google TV Streamer (4K) since day one and now you are having the same inconvenience with your other streamer devices. I can understand how inconvenient it is when a key feature isn't working as it should, especially after you've already tried the recommended fixes. To help me figure out what’s going on, I have a few questions for you:

  • What is the make and model of your TV?
  • Did you factory reset all your streamer remotes?
  • What happens when you press the Google Assistant button on your remote? Do you see anything on your TV screen, or does the light on your remote blink?
  • Have you checked for any pending software updates for your device and all of its apps?
  • Just to be sure, have you checked the batteries in your remote to make sure they're fresh?
  • Are there any other Bluetooth devices nearby the streamer?

It does it on multiple LG TVs. I just found out my Chromecast on a 4th TV is doing the same thing. I’d have to suspect that is either an account issue or all 4 devices received a buggy update. I can use voice commands from all of the remotes to open apps installed on the devices, but I can’t change channels by voice in the YouTube TV app. For example, if I say “Sundance Channel”, it first shows that correctly, then reports that “I looked for the Sundance Channel on YouTubeTV, but it either isn’t available or can’t be played now.” It does that every time we ask for any channel.
