Hi folks,

We appreciate you sharing this, @Lilahnz.

@Blitzabraxas, thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Since it has been factory reset already, you would need to set it up from scratch. The Chromecast with Google TV would require you to pair the remote first, then choose the language (English, Spanish, German, etc.) using the remote before it prompts you to use the Google Home App to scan the QR code on the TV to proceed with setup. There’s no alternative; without a Chromecast Voice Remote to pair with, it can’t be set up.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you have other concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy

Everything worked the first time. when I restart to the factory settings, I cannot connect to the remote control again and I only have a black screen with instructions on how to connect the remote control... but nothing works... the remote control does not want to connect... although the remote control and the phone pair normally. the problem is only with the remote control and box

Hi Masta_M,

Thanks for joining this thread. If you’re still willing to try, we have a workaround to troubleshoot this:

  • Remove the batteries and give it a 2 to 3 minute rest.
  • While the batteries are out, press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds to fully drain any static power left on the chipset/motherboard of the Chromecast Voice remote, then release the button.
  • Let the remote rest again for 2 to 3 minutes. Take this time to unplug the Chromecast device from power and give it a 1 minute rest before you plug it back in.
  • Pair and observe.
  • If it persists, you can factory reset the remote and pair it again.

If it persists, then this is mostly hardware-related now. You can check if your device is still covered by warranty here: Warranty Checker. If it’s still covered, then you can reach out to our support team for a replacement here: Contact Us. You may choose the option of a live chat or a callback from a live representative. We can also send you a form if you prefer communication via email.

Let us know. We look forward to your response.

Regards,

Kimy
