⑴ it's impossible to get help from Google themselves

so I'm having to list a problem here which likely can't be solved through this forum.

However, how can one stop Chromecast from asking to update YouTube button?

I get a request almost every 3 days to confirm the shortcut for the YouTube button and frankly I never want to see this request ever again.

Hello hilfordjames,

Thanks for posting here in the community forum. I understand that your Chromecast is asking to update the YouTube button. No worries, I’m happy to assist you.

To get a better understanding of the situation, please help me out by answering the following questions:

  • Could you attach a screenshot of what notification or message you receive?
  • What model of Google Chromecast do you have?
  • Is the Google Chromecast firmware updated?

If you have any more information that could be helpful, please let me know.

Regards,

Daniel

Hi,

I think I've worked out that if I press the YouTube button twice or hold it down it then asks for me to confirm a shortcut.

Is there any way to turn this request off as it does not occur with the other buttons.

Hey hilfordjames,

Thanks for your continued communication. When you press and hold the YouTube button, you'll see a list of available YouTube services, such as YouTube TV, YouTube Music, or YouTube Kids. Select the option that best suits your needs. This button is a shortcut to customize your experience within the YouTube app, and it is not available to turn off.

If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Best regards,

Daniel
