How to use Chromecast 4K to get local network files

Frankgu7

I have hard time connect to my local network. My computers can get my local network such as "\\192.168.1.108" but when I'm using Chromecast 4K, I can't get it around anyway. Does anybody know how? please help.

Thank you.

Hi @Frankgu7

By default the Google TV does not have the ability to connect to filesshares.

If you want to play media from your local network you are better off setting up some kind of media server like Plex or Kodi. 🙂

Thank you very much. After installed Kudo, I can reach my local network and see all English files now.

If your trying to view locally stored media, your going to need a DLNA server and install Kodi on the chromecast.

Thank you very much. After installed Kudo, I can reach my local network and see all English files now. I didn't install DLNA (believe the Chromecast may already has it).
