Based on your description, this is more about casting using a computer. I understand that there have been some changes and a lot of things that happened with the Chrome browser that cause issues in casting. Kindly try to cast different cast-enabled apps using a smartphone or a tablet. The objective here is to identify if it really is your Chromecast device that is acting up or if this is a communication failure from the casting source via the Chrome browser. Once it is identified that your Chromecast device is working as intended, I suggest you give our friends at the Google Chrome Help Community a shout. They may know a particular setting that can be toggled in Chrome://flags, or they may have a workaround for this. Let us know how it goes.
