Issue with 4k 60hz via chromecast on samsung tv

I own a Samsung TV 2018 model UA65MU7000. I’ve hooked up my Chromecast with Google TV (4k) to the Samsung TV. When i change the display resolution from 1080 (60hz) to 4k (60 hz) via the chromecast the screen will continuously change to a black screen for 2-3 seconds whilst i’m trying to watch tv. It’s like the tv can’t handle the refresh rate of a 4k 60hz feed. It doesn’t make sense though because i’m not having the same issue with my 2016 Samsung TV which i have changed to the 4k 60 hz resolution. Any thoughts?

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out. Issues with 4K resolution can be frustrating. Let's work through this together.

To start, could you please verify a few things:

  • HDMI Cable: Ensure you're using a high-speed HDMI cable rated for 4K 60Hz.
  • HDMI Port: Try connecting the Chromecast to a different HDMI port on your TV. Sometimes, ports have different capabilities.
  • TV Settings: Check your TV's picture settings. Make sure it's set to the correct picture mode (like Game or Movie) and that HDMI Deep Color is enabled.
  • Chromecast Settings: Verify that the Chromecast is set to output 4K 60Hz.

I would like you to check on TV has no signal or only shows a black screen.

If you've tried these steps and still experience problems, we can explore additional troubleshooting options. It might be helpful to gather more details about your setup.

Feel free to share any additional information that could be relevant.

Regards,

Brandon.

Thanks Brandon. none of those steps fixed the issue unfortunately. It’s definitely an issue with the television though because I swapped over the chromecast from my 2016 Samsung TV and both chromecasts work fine with 4k 60hz on the 2016 model but both won’t work correctly when trying to display 4k 60 hz on my 2018 model Samsung tv. If i set the resolution to 1080p 60hz it works without any issues

Hi there!

Thanks for the additional details. It definitely sounds like a specific compatibility issue with your 2018 Samsung TV.

I recommend reaching out to Samsung's support or Samsung Community directly. They might have specific information about compatibility issues with your TV model and Chromecast.

We're also actively investigating potential Chromecast and TV compatibility issues, so your information is valuable to us. Please help us by sharing your feedback about your experiences with us.
