Issue with Chromecast Device Not Detecting Specific Wi-Fi Network

Dear Chromecast Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to seek assistance with a connectivity issue I am experiencing with my Chromecast device.

Problem Description: Despite having a functional Wi-Fi network, my Chromecast device is unable to detect the specific network I am currently using. Interestingly, all other devices, including my mobile phones and PCs, are able to detect and connect to this Wi-Fi network without any issues. Additionally, neighboring networks are being detected by the Chromecast device as usual.

Steps Taken:

  1. Restarted both the Chromecast device and the Wi-Fi router.
  2. Verified that the Wi-Fi network is operational by connecting other devices successfully.
  3. Ensured that the Chromecast device is within the range of the Wi-Fi network.

Observations:

  • The Wi-Fi network in question does not appear in the list of available networks when attempting to set up the Chromecast device.
  • Other Wi-Fi networks in the vicinity are being detected normally by the Chromecast device.
  • This issue persists across multiple attempts and after ensuring that the Wi-Fi credentials are correct.

Requested Assistance: Any guidance or troubleshooting steps you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please let me know if any further information is required to assist with the resolution of this issue.

Hiya abdullahmalik,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

Not being able to detect Wi-Fi networks with your Chromecast can be frustrating. It seems you've already done some troubleshooting steps, which is great! Here are other steps you can follow that might help you get your Chromecast back on its feet again.

Do you happen to have a dual-band router? These routers can broadcast either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz networks. If you have a first-generation Chromecast, it won't be able to connect if your network is exclusively 5 GHz.

You can try the setup with another device (like a phone or tablet). To rule out updates to your phone's or Google Home app firmware.

If none of these recommendations help I would suggest following this article on how to factory reset your Chromecast.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,

Angel.
