Loops, loops chromecast setup

Plugged in, welcome screen with Chromecast number. Start Home, device found, but needs to be activated, install device utility app. Device found turn off wifi, cannot make connection, then make contact with the hotspot on your Chromecast. Says cannot connect to internet, it should ask for a password but it doesn't, and then the whole thing starts from the beginning, two hours wasted.

If anybody could help it will be appreciated

I did this all from my pixel 5 phone. Now I tried it from my Samsung tablet, the setup sailed through smoothly. Could it be a pixel issue?? Well it works fine now.

Hi Jgbodar,

 

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community.
 

I'm glad that you were able to set up your Chromecast using another phone. You can try to uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app on your Pixel phone when you are going to set up your Chromecast again. Since it's working now you should be able to control your Chromecast using your Pixel phone too, as long as you are using the same account.
