My 4k Google TV Chromecast Remote Overheating

I just got my 4k Google Chromecast and the remote is not working and is overheating. I had removed the old batteries, put in new batteries, tried to do a factory reset on and it and nothing happens, not even will the light light up, but the remote would quickly feel hot and overheat. I checked the battery compartment and no damage or corrosion
