Chromecast with Google TV HDMI CEC restriction

Hi,

I have my Chromecast with Google TV connected to a Marantz Cinema 70s, and am trying to use it to replace a Sonos port, and effectively make my receiver act as a cast enabled speaker in my home.

Everything is working fine, except that when HDMI CEC is enabled, the Chromecast powers on the receiver, but my TV (connected to the receiver eARC port) also powers on.

Is there a way on the Chromecast I can tell the CEC settings to only power on the first device in the chain (my receiver).

I have opened a ticket with Marantz as well, as I don't know enough about the inner workings of CEC to know which device is actually issuing the power on command to the TV.

It would be nice if my Chromecast could power on/off just the receiver when casting audio.

Thanks

Eds

Hi Eds89,

Thank you for reaching out to the community.  I understand that when HDMI-CEC is enabled, the Chromecast powers on both the receiver and your TV, even though you only want to power on the receiver. I'm happy to help you!

Therefore, i'd like to share to you a few troubleshooting below:

  • To start setup, turn on your streaming device  at the top right of your TV screen, select your profile All settings .
  • Select Remotes & Accessories  Set up remote buttons. You’ll now be on the remote buttons setup screen.
  • If you haven’t added a device yet, you’ll need to add one before continuing. Select Add a device  your device type  your device brand.

To better guide you through this process, you can check out the following article: Display settings for Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer - Streaming Help

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Rusell.
