My Chromecast was working fine and then I got a new phone.

My Chromecast was working fine and then I got a new phone.

I've rebooted the chromecast, rebooted my wifi, restarted my phone, set up a new home address in the Google home app, tried to pick a different room. I've run out of ideas. It was literally working on my old phone, I set up my new phone, stopped casting on the old and tried to cast on the new.

The reboot and set up works fine, then I go to cast and there is nowhere to cast to. I open the google home app and the device says it's not available. But I literally just reset it up.

Please help 🙏 the only thing I've changed is my phone.

Hey there LizzieJayne,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for being patient! Were you able to figure out that casting issue? If not, I'd be happy to help you figure this out. Now, what model of phone are you using? For example, an Android device needs location services turned on. Here is how to do so:

  1. Open the device's Settings app.
  2. Tap Security and location.
  3. Tap Location.
  4. Turn Use location on On.

If your router has a dual-band network, also make sure that both your phone and Chromecast are connected to the same network band.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran

Hi, I have not yet resolved this.

I have a Samsung s23+

My internet does not have dual band.

It was working fine with the same internet and my s21 phone.

Hiya LizzieJayne,

No problem at all. Would you try manually connecting to the Chromecasts SSID? Here is how to do so:

  1. Go to the phone’s Settings.
  2. Open Wi-Fi and connect to the Chromecast SSID (Example: Chromecast1234).
  3. Go to the Google Home app and try to set it up again.

Let me know if you are able to connect that way, or if you run into any more issues.

Best regards,

Jeran

I can connect to the chromecast when it is not set up

Hiya LizzieJayne,

No problem at all! Do you get any specific error message when you try to cast from your Galaxy S23+? Then, just to be sure, are you able to cast to your Chromecast from any other device, such as a tablet or computer? This would isolate the issue a bit more.

Best regards,

Jeran

It says that it cannot see the chrome cast on the network

Hello LizzieJayne,

No problem at all. Would you be able to follow the troubleshooting steps in this post by davidking? You can skip Step 2, as those steps relate to setting up the Chromecast. After you give those steps a try, and if the problem still persists, we can have you speak with Chromecast Support.

I look forward to hearing from you again.

Best regards,
Jeran

I have tried these steps several times. They have not worked
