My cromecast remote doesn't seem to be working

It appeared to be working when I took it out of the box and a light was on  I have even replaced it with new batteries and still nothing

I’m sorry to hear about what’s happening on your Chromecast Voice Remote. Let’s further look into it. Try to factory reset the Chromecast Voice Remote and then set it up. If the issue persists, Factory reset the Chromecast device as well, then Set up Chromecast with Google TV and Voice Remote. Let me know how it goes.
