Everything is working and set up.

Hi @runedalsgaard,

Thanks for posting here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Mini and the Chromecast are encountering the message that they are unavailable. I'd be happy to help!

To gather more information, I'd like to ask the following:

  • What is the model of your router?
  • Are there any other networking devices on the network aside from the wireless router, such as an extender, repeater, or another access point?
  • What network did you try to connect to?
  • Is this the first time you've experienced this situation?

Here are some additional steps for both the Chromecast and Nest Mini:

  • Make sure the mobile software version and the Google Home app are up-to-date.
  • Ensure the Google Home app has all the necessary permissions on your phone, especially location services.
  • Update your router's firmware, if needed. Sometimes routers have bugs, and there are firmware fixes to address them. Make sure your router is running the most up-to-date software.
  • If your router supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, make sure your Chromecast and Nest Mini are on the 5 GHz network.

For the Chromecast device, follow the next steps:

  • To help prevent Wi-Fi or Bluetooth interference, move your Chromecast further away from your TV. Also, don't let it touch other devices, wires, or cables.
  • Check that your wireless network can support the number of devices connected to it.
  • Reboot your Chromecast. Unplug the power cable, wait one minute, and plug the power cable back in.

For the Nest Mini, follow the next steps:

  • Turn on Local Network Access for the Google Home app to allow access to your network.
  • The Nest Mini should be about 15 to 20 feet from the Wi-Fi router. Close proximity allows for the best Wi-Fi connection possible.
  • Try rebooting your Nest Mini. You can refer to the next article: Reboot Google Nest or Home speaker or display.

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer

Hello

I use this a Xiaomi 5G CPE Pro (V2).

no other network devices connected.

Google Home app has all the necessary permissions.

The router combines 2.4 and 5GHz on same SSID by default.

I’m helping a family member so she invited me to join her home.

Maybe the offline status is just showing in my app because I don’t own the home.

If I check in my family members home app it doesn’t show as offline while on the same network. Is this really just it?

Google home devices are offline when a member checks status while on other network remotely. Is this it?

Hi @runedalsgaard,

Thanks for following up! I really appreciate all the information you've provided. I'd be happy to help with your concerns.

While some Nest devices work remotely, speakers, displays, and Chromecasts need to be on the same Wi-Fi network for control through the Google Home app. If you're a family member connected to the same Wi-Fi, you should be able to control them. However, if you're having inconveniences controlling devices while connected to the same Wi-Fi network, it might be related to your family home invitation.

In this case, I'd suggest the following:

  • Try removing yourself from the family's home.
  • Uninstall the Google Home app and reinstall it.
  • Request the invitation again to have access to the devices. You can follow the next article for instructions: Share a home and devices in the Google Home app.

If the homeowner encounters inconveniences controlling the devices through the Google Home app, you can try removing the devices from the Google Home app and adding the Nest Mini and the Chromecast with Google TV again.

Let me know how it goes.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
