New Chromecast not starting with Set Up Prompt

I just purchased a new Chromecast. I have plugged everything in and from what I have read, there is suppose to be a “Set me up” prompt on my television, but instead it says "Not Support". Can you help me solve this problem or is the chromecast defective?

Sorry it must say more than just not support.. it is possible it says resolution not supported ?  What type of TV are you using ? Have you tried a different HDMI port?  

Yes, I've tried different ports.  I have a 42" Vizio.  Up to this point, I've used a Roku stick which works fine with this TV.    I've installed this same Chromecast on my 3rd floor TV with no problems, so I'm guessing it's defective.

I already tried all of those things.  I've already returned it and got a new one. Thanks for trying to help!
