I bought two Chromecasts last summer and was given one the previous Christmas as a gift.
I downloaded the new Max app successfully to one of the two new ones in my Connecticut home. Next weekend I'll try to download the new Max app to my second Chromecast in Connecticut.
Last night the older one a Chromecast with Google TV 4K wouldn't download the app in my Brooklyn home. Any idea what the problem is? I can cast from my phone, but prefer to not have to do that. I believe all of the Chromecasts are the same generation.

Does it give some sort of error?

Yes, it says:
Can't install Max
Try again and if it still doesn't work, see common ways to fix the problem. (At Google support website)

It is hard to know what might be the issue but you could try clearing data for the Play Store app. Go to settings - apps -> Play Store. Under storage you can clear data.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for sharing details about the issue here. My apologies for the late response. I appreciate CarlosS and bk76's help here. I can confirm that uninstalling the HBO Max first before installing the Max app will help to resolve the issue.
Let me know if that works.
Cheers,
Muddi

You have to uninstall the old HBO app, restart (just to be sure everything is cleared out), then install max

Hello folks,
Have you tried the troubleshooting steps that Muddi suggested? Let me know if that did the trick or not, so we can try something else.
Cheers,
