No sound casting Prime Video

I have a Chromecast with Google Tv (4K) and a Chromecast with Google Tv (HD). When I cast Prime Video to the HD version it works fine. When I cast to the 4K version I have no sound. This happens with both Android and IPhone. While it’s casting  if I check the app in the audio settings were the scroll bar is no audio language is selected and it won’t allow me to select my audio language. I checked this while casting to the HD version and everything is fine. All other apps cast fine. I deleted and reinstalled the app and reset Google Chromecast with Google Tv 4K to factory defaults and no change. Everything is up to date so not sure what’s happening here as it affects both Android and IPhone

thanks

Hi Derf,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I'm sorry to hear that when you cast from Prime Video, your Chromecast with Google TV doesn't sound. I'm here to help!

I also appreciate all of the previous workarounds and attempts. To better investigate the inconvenience, I'd like to ask the following:

  • Is the TV connected to an external receiver, soundbar, or speakers?
  • Is this the first time you're experiencing this situation?

In the meantime, check the following steps:

  • Confirm that the casting device isn’t on mute. For Chromecast with Google TV, you can use your voice remote to check if the streaming device is on mute.
  • Enable the “local network” option for the Google Home app and the Prime Video app.
    • For iOS devices, go to Settings > Privacy > Local Network.
    • For devices with Android 11 or 12, go to Settings > Enable “Use network information” > Continue.
  • Make sure the firmware version of the mobile device and the Chromecast are up-to-date.
  • If possible, try casting the streaming service on a different TV.

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
