Picture on Google TV Streamer

Bought a Google TV Streamer to replace a bricked Chomecast with Google TV.
But I'm not happy with the picture quiality at all.
Faces (like mye profile picture) gets very bright (almost white).
Much brighter than on cellphone or PC.
Almost like the contrast and gamma are very high.
Since all my A/V units go through my surround reciever and share the same TV input adjusting picture settings on the TV will mess up other devices (like PC and PS3 and PS4). So what can I do?

Hi @LarsErikOsterud,

Thank you for posting in the community. I understand your new Google TV Streamer (4K) is displaying overexposed faces compared to your other devices; I can see how difficult it is to deal with inconsistent contrast and gamma levels, especially when you can't easily adjust your TV settings due to other connected units. I appreciate the information you shared. I’m happy to assist.

To gather the necessary information, please answer the following questions:

  • Is your Google TV Streamer (4K) updated to the latest software version? This article might be helpful: Chromecast & Google TV Streamer firmware versions and release notes.
  • Have you tried plugging the Google TV Streamer (4K) into a different HDMI port on your TV to see if the color mapping changes?
  • Have you tried toggling "Match content dynamic range" to ON in your device settings? If not, the following article might be helpful: Display settings for Chromecast with Google TV and Google TV Streamer.
  • What is the brand and model of your TV and your A/V receiver?
  • Does this issue happen across all apps (like YouTube or Netflix), or is it only on the home screen and specific menus?

I'll be waiting for your reply.

Best regards,

Derick.
