Preventing children accessing others’ profiles

Hello

I have a Samsung TV, with which we use a Chromecast. It’s the only TV in the house and our 10-year old is allowed to watch kids programmes alone so we set up a child profile for him and spent ages configuring a Family Group, including setting PIN codes for grown-up profiles. However, if you just turn the Chromecast off and on again it defaults to the family manager’s profile without requiring the PIN, making the whole child profile and so on completely pointless. PLEASE could we have a profile picker screen as the first screen that comes up when you switch it on and where there are child profiles, require the PIN to go in as an adult?

Hi Lula1,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. To cut it short, you’re right! That happens on shared TV. The purpose of the kids profile is for households with multiple TVs wherein children have their own TVs in their respective rooms. The parents can lock that profile on that particular TV. I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you still have other concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy
