How will you advise users of the fix? Cannot spend much more time on this having wasted an hour or so yesterday before finding this forum today. Customer Service please. (Australia)

Chromecast was working Monday, by Tuesday, now not working so unfortunately I removed my device from my Home app and factory reset was preceding OK, had the Chromecast on the TV but then had the problem, as indicated of "we can't "We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast" Would have been nice to have known not to factory reset. I'm sure most Chromecasts are linked to an email address, and with the technology, it would have been nice to receive an email to indicate there was a problem and not to reset.
Now It will take several weeks for the sound of it to have my Chromecast running again

I'm another who has factory reset as the first option. Please get the fix our ASAP. There seem to be thousands of people impacted here. Can we get an ETA for the fix?
03-11-2025 03:10 AM

Also what is wrong with google?
How can this be a good way of treating customers?
Im certainly done with your devices if im at one point to buy new... you litterally give a s..t about your customers here. Hope you will get some serious company damage.

03-11-2025 03:22 AM

03-11-2025 03:17 AM
Imagine having a market cap of $2.129 Trillion USD.. and still takes over 2 days to fix a bug they created in the first place...
03-11-2025 03:18 AM
I already did the factory reset could you please help ?
03-11-2025 03:22 AM
When is this issue expected to be resolved? How will you contact all Chromecast users?
03-11-2025 03:24 AM
@GoogleNestTeam, Please report back in this thread once the issue has been fixed. Thanks!
03-11-2025 03:25 AM
Hello,
I use the Chromecast every day with complete satisfaction. I was just wondering if you already have a solution for the issue. I look forward to an update.
03-11-2025 03:28 AM
Seriously? How long are we going to wait for a fix? A day, a week, a month? Or maybe we should be thankful and grateful for Google's services?
03-11-2025 03:24 AM
How long do I have to wait. I did a factory reset because that's a standard part of the trouble shooting process. And here you are telling us all not to do that after at least some of us did it. So what's the timeline for a fix?
03-11-2025 03:33 AM

Here got the same situation🥲
just can’t connect to any phone🥲
03-11-2025 03:34 AM
Dang, factory reset was the first thing I did, are all mine now bricked?
03-11-2025 03:34 AM
Any timeline for this? Still facing problem.
03-11-2025 03:35 AM
How long is the fix gonna take? it been 3 days now. Are you not Google? How in the world can you have a world wide breakdown for 3 days.
I tried asking Gemini about it, it literally said that that would be very unlikely because Google was one of the world's biggest tech companies that would never allow for the service to be down world wide for that long.
03-11-2025 03:36 AM
after the factory reset just change the date on your mobile to prior March 8th (i set it to march 3rd) this will allow you to bring your chromecast back online then follow these instructions https://www.androidauthority.com/how-to-fix-chromecast-authentication-errors-workarounds-3533849/ Google Home still won't work fully but you can cast from any other video app
03-11-2025 03:37 AM
Following. What a troll
03-11-2025 03:38 AM
Like many here I had done the factory reset and all the steps advised on the help page before I visited this forum with a message not to reset. They should have emailed. An extremely frustrated Chromecast user from Pakistan.

too late.
CHANGE THE INSTRUCTIONS FOR SOLVING ISSUES
it told me to do a FACTORY RESET!!!!!

Has this issue been resolved yet?

Community admin has no name? Thanks for the update ca. It’s nearly impossible to even buy a new chromecast gen anything right now, today. Found an article talking about the new and improved streamer talked about late last year (2024). And that’s the only Google streamer I can locate. I look forward to seeing the fix for my old streamer. May need to jump ship if Google forces the loss of my Gen 2 chromecast.

Having factory reset all of mine I followed this workaround setting phone's date to Friday 7th March, at least I was able to get them back on the WiFi:
03-11-2025 03:54 AM
I di really cannot believe. Still nothing. Google no more!
You should shame yourself
03-11-2025 03:55 AM
Too late …. Factory reset already done. Please provide instructions ASAP !!! Thanks . Waiting….
03-11-2025 03:59 AM
I tried to initiate my brand new 4K Chromecast after my 2nd gen stopped working and it won't work either!
I hope you will have this sorted soon.
Better ownership of this issue with a proper announcement and updates would be nice seeing as how you have taken these devices down world wide!
Save a lot of people a lot of time and angst!
03-11-2025 03:59 AM
Thanks for the update. We are very interested to see a solution. Perhaps you might change the support page to recommend not doing a factory reset as many of us followed those instructions and have done so already.
03-11-2025 03:59 AM
Same problem since sunday factory reset already done because off the help instructions what now?
03-11-2025 03:59 AM
Yeah, this isn't going to work for me. This is the only way of watching tv that I have, so either have a complete fix now or offer a replacement at no cost. Ridiculous.
03-11-2025 04:07 AM
Hi,
I performed a factory reset; it's not getting authenticated. What should I do?
03-11-2025 04:07 AM
Too late factory reset. Hey ho. If this is indeed a security certificate becoming out of date it's pretty remiss! Hopefully the fix will be quick. I've already wasted an hour with this issue before finding it's a known one.
