Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

YES I spent so long troubleshooting and trying different things, literally never got an email or notification or anything. Reddit told me what the problem is and I finally stumbled on this page. Google is becoming such a disappointment.

Mais rien a faire.

Excellent instructions for an interim workaround that will restore Gen2 casting for Android devices, even for those who have already done a factory reset. Worked for me. I had my Gen2 Chromecast back up 'n running by midday Monday, rock-solid since. Good enough, until Google issues a proper security certificate fix.

Dear Google I know your aware of the issues thats going on with chrome cast. It's been more than 2 days this issue is still going on. I PAID ALOT FOR THIS CHROME cast and this is out of pocket. I understand your working on The issue but at least let us know the problem and please hundle it. Its becoming annoying now.

J ai 2 chromecast a mon domicile.
Depuis la dernière MAJ home, j ai des soucis, 1 des 2 ne fonctionne plus.
J ai rétabli la configuration d usine et depuis, impossible de le reconnecter, problème d authentification. L appli Google home m affiche le bon numéro chromecast xxxx, et n arrive pas se connecter dessus, les 4 numéros ne s affichent pas sur la télé comme si je n avais pas l application.. J ai un message d authentifier impossible. Je ne comprends pas. Je les utilise depuis des années, ce n est pas la 1ere fois que je fais la manipulation mais la rien n y fait. Si quelqu'un a eu le même problème et peut me guider...

Changez la date de votre téléphone au 1er mars pour reconnecter les chromecast.
Problème certificat SSL depuis le 8, ils ne se connectent donc plus à internet
