Hey folks,
If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Olá, eu restaurei o meu Chromecast 2, pois não sabia que o erro era do Google.
Sou pobre, não tenho uma smartv, o Chromecast era a atração principal na minha casa, principalmente para 9 meu filho.
Fiquei no prejuízo.
Quero saber quando vocês vão atualizar esse bendito Chromecast.

Well. I was trying to get my Chromecast Audio back to Life the last 3 days. Yesterday night, I resentfully reset it back to factory settings. Since then I restarted everything from modem to phone to the baby crying because he’s hungry. And finally it appears on my app. It’s not my fault it’s an “emerging issue”. Well. That would’ve been nice to know BEFORE I reset everything. Anyway. Will be waiting for your instructions.

Why are these still on the shelves in my local retailers? If we know they are broken, why has Google not called up every third party retailer that they have provided these devices to and told them to pull them from their shelves how is this different than a third party? Having a messed up pixel phone with a bad battery in it that Google provided and you pulled those off the shelves but you sure aren't doing anything about these.

Thank you to all of the hardworking individuals working on the issue! I purchased my 2nd generation Chromecast about 8 years ago and it has worked without any issues up until now. I am confident that this issue is appropriately prioritized and will be effectively solved. I love Google and all Google products!

Uds dicen que identificaron el problema y piden que no reinicien porque sino no se solucionará.. y que tb si lo reiniciaste saben cual es el problema... adivinen.. por un inconveniente YO NO LO REINICIE NUNCA y a que no saben?? Sigue el problema. Si era su estrategia comercial salir a comprar los nuevos dispositivos con lo carisimos que son (y por lo que veo en todo el mundo) , fue una malisima idea. Mi pregunta es la siguiente.. COMO VAN A RESARCIR O COMPENSAR esta situacion a todos nosotros.. si.. los mas de 20 millones de personas.. por el tiempo perdido.. por el soporte no brindado.. por esperar mas de 24 hs para que comunicar que hay un problema global y sumemosle a todos los que reinicieron los dispositivos cuando supuestamente no habia que hacerlo..ni te digo a los que le cambiaron la fecha!!! En fin.. como van a compensar esta situacion!!!??

Any update on this. still cant cast anything to my tv. I knew i should never do updates it always screws something up. currently in recovery from a operation, worse time it could happen, when is this going to be fixed. How long intil you pay for my subscriptions as im unable to use them.
