Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Deberían poner un mensaje en la app Google home, por qué yo si restablecí a fábrica uno de mis dispositivos hace dos dias, por qué así lo sugiere el solucionador de problemas es la app y apenas hoy veo un correo que le mandaron a mi hermana y no a mi donde explican qué hay un problema, así que la difusión no está llegando a todos los usuarios de forma oportuna, pero todos si entramos a la app para ver qué sucede, entonces ahí deberían de informarnos, qué do al pendiente de cuando lo solucionen por que realmente si ha sido muy frustrante

If you already resetted the device and you cant get it setup again to your wifi, Just set your phone or tablets clock manual and to March the 7th. Reset the CC and set it up with Google home. That way Google can roll out the fix for your device

Hello, I performed the factory reset but it let me finished the setup. My Chromecast is now connected and added to my home devices y Google Home app. However I still cannot stream any videos on it even when it appear in the list of screens. Also I can't change the name of the Chromecast

Aunque leo por internet que ya se está implementando una actualización de firmware para Chromecast 2, con una nueva Versión del firmware del sistema: 467165 Firmware del Cast: 1.56.467165 yo sigo teniendo la Versión antigua del firmware: 275994 Firmware del Cast: 1.56.275994
Dicen que está implementación se está haciendo por fases y que no todos recibiremos la actualización inmediatamente. El porcentaje de implementación es de aproximadamente un 5% y los dispositivos que no estén configurados y conectados a Wi-Fi no podrán obtener la actualización.
Pero ¿qué es eso de la configuración? Los usuarios reportan que para obtener la actualización el dispositivo debe estar conectado y uno informa que tuvo que cambiar manualmente la fecha de su móvil a una anterior al 9 de marzo.
He probado eso pero a mí la actualización no me ha llegado. Al He cambiar la fecha y probar a actualizar el Chromecast por el Google Home me salen mensajes de autenticación inválida y que tengo un certificado de Google no fiable

It just dawned on me, not only did I have six Chromecast audio devices active, now not working, I still have three sealed in the box that were my spare back ups. Those three have never been activated.
One of my current used devices I did reset and to get it back online to actually just see Internet I use the set the date back hack during google home resetting it up.
Not sure if it will receive the pushed fix or not, what is your plan is for those that are no longer activated including my spare three brand new? how about come out with a fix within Google home as well that will be able to handle this problem going forward in the future, or will I now have a limited time to activate the sealed Chromecast audio units once the fix is available?

Hoje dia 14 eu vi uma notícia que o Google estava corrigindo o problema, mas eu havia resetado o meu para configuração de fábrica, descobri que posso reverter isso,
Faça o seguinte, entre nas configurações do seu celular, procure por data e horário, tire da configuração automática e mude a data manualmente para o dia 08/03. Após isso reinicie o celular, abre o app home e inicie a configuração.
Você vai conseguir fazer mas vai continuar sem conexão, após isso só esperar o Google resolver o problema e atualizar o app sozinho.

Look in the router settings to see if your Chromecast appears connected. Only then will you know if it is connected or not.

I have reset it to factory settings, but I could not reconfigure it. To reconfigure a new device you have to change the date and the mobile date to 8/3/2025, and this way it lets you add the device but the sending still does not work. Just wait for the new update, at least this way you can leave it added until it arrives.

I had the device unplugged yesterday it is plugged back in now I just want to make sure this gets fixed and I didn’t miss it. This is for chromecast and we have literally had no TV for days.
