If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Autre chose , envoyez des messages au utilisateurs par mail, sur les écran de leurs tv etc pour expliquer la situation , comme ça on arrête de s’acharner à faire des resets tous les jours, à appeler les fournisseurs internet pour vérifier si le problème ne vient pas du rooter etc. C`est le minimum des respect pour vos clients.

Seems prime video has issues casting to the new update. Netflix works but not prime. Wich did work prior to the issue.

Lo solucioné. Resetee mi google chromecast de fábrica, para arreglarlo cambié la fecha del móvil al 7 de marzo y busqué de nuevo mi dispositivo con Google home, lo encontró y lo actualizó.

I have two Chromecast devices in the UK. The first I carried out a factory reset and it is not now recognised by the system. The second, no factory reset, has now updated and is working once more.
I await your advice on the recovery of the factory reset device.

Ha funzionato! Ho cambiato la data al mio telefono Samsung e sono riuscito a fare l'abbinamento su Google Home.

La solucion para Android es cambiar la fecha al 9 de Marzo y desconectar la actualización automatica de tu teléfono
Entra a Home y configura el dispositivo empezara la actualizacion automática que dua 10 minutos aprox

I have a fix / solution for the users that performed a factory reset before the update was rolled out on Thursday.
Solution set your phone's (or device you run Google Home on) to a system date to something before March 9th 2025. Then go through the device setup as normal. This will allow you in and the Chromecast to then allow the needed update. Only after the set-up is done and you do your own small test to see if it casts, then change your phone's date back and everything will be normal and work....

É isso, galera!
1. Vai em Configurações => Data e Hora. Desmarca a opção "Definir hora automaticamente". Vai em data e coloca a data em 09/03/2025. Vai no Google Home => Dispositivos => + => Dispositivo Google Nest ou parceiro. O Home vai encontrar o Chromecast. Siga o processo e fique observando a tela, porque o Chromecast vai começar a receber uma atualização. Vai aparecer a evolução percentual do processo de atualização. Durante esse tempo, pode ser que o Google Home acuse falha no processo, mas se na tela do Chromecast tiver evoluindo o percentual de atualização, aguarde. Depois de concluído o processo de atualização o Chromecast vai reiniciar sozinho. Daí você ajusta novamente a data e hora do telefone para atualização automática. Tentei de várias outras formas, mas deste jeito funcionou!
