Anything Yet???

Yes, read the latest posts. It works for many, and there is proposals how to solve if you did a reset.

Oui j'ai fait une réinitialisation d'usine et je n'arrive plus à connecter mes chrome cast en ce moment merci de me prévenir quand je pourrais

For those who did factory reset (like me), there is a bit of a hack available that worked for me.
Set your phone date to say 01 Feb 2025 - ignoring all the errors from apps like WhatsApp.
I suspect chose a date before the last Google Home update which was 26 Feb 2025
Connect the Chromecast to the TV and open Google Home and add a new device
The device should now update the firmware to the corrected update.
The chromecast will reboot and update a few times.
Once the device has completed its update, close google home, then change the phone back to the correct date time.
Open google home again and the device should now be there.
Hope this helps

Duurt wel lang. Nog steeds geen googlecast.

(For those who restored ChromeCast to factory settings) - In my case it worked: Time/Date in Android, on mobile, reset the date to 01.03. Launch the Home app and install Chromecast as usual. Return time/date to automatic setting. ChromeCast will do the update and install the fix. Good luck!
03-15-2025 04:30 AM
How can you reset the date?
03-15-2025 05:06 AM
You set the date back on your streaming unit (in my case my iphone). And then configure it as usual. Just don’t forget to put the date back after hehe

Recently powered on 2 Chromecast Audio. Each did two times yellow blinking, then white light.
Google Home found both devices, the one I didn't reset and the one I reset.
The one I didn't reset was back and fully steerable by Google Home, FW level was 1.56.467166 as expected.
The one I did a factory reset some days ago, then re-added it to my environment by the reddit solution "Android (GUI method)" [https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/1j7lhrs/comment/mgy1a88/] came back but wasn't controllable by Google Home.
After I added this "half-dead" device to to a room, control came back to Google Home, so I could check FW level 1.56.467166.
Now groupwise streaming to both both CC Audio works again.
Thank you for solving the issue !

What's update in this? There's no still connection and i can't still connect to the chromecast.
03-15-2025 04:29 AM
If you've done a factory reset, your devices will not be able to update .
You can simply fix this by manually setting the date on your phone to before March 9. This will allow your device to connect to the internet and perform the update. Once you've done that, you can return to the automatic set date on your phone.

O meu eu ja fiz a definição de fábrica. O que devo fazer

Really... you'd honestly expect better from a multi billion dollar company with a large workforce of overpaid, overrated I.T nerds. Millions of devices rendered unusable from an update. Come on guys do better. I bet you boosted your sales through the roof in the short term though. How many billions have to be made before someone can stay back an hour and fix up the certification issue...? Shouldn't be that hard. Get your act together.

Finally got my CC Audio working today. Better late than never I guess. You very nearly lost a customer to WiiM there guys!
Anyhow, thanks for the apparently troublesome work!

I have found the solution! You just go out and buy another Google TV Streamer (and an HDMI cable - Why is it never included?) and immediately you find that your Chromecast V2 is working again! I didn't even need to unbox them.
Seriously though, I had of course performed a factory reset on the Chromecast V2 device - as per the instructions available still on the Google support site at the time mine failed. Then I found I could not even connect to the Chromecast
I used the advice to set the date on my phone back to 7 March 2025 and was able to get the Chromecast to connect again. Today when I tried casting, suddenly the fix had been rolled out to my device. It was working again! So in fact, all you actually needed to do was wait for Google to resolve the issue. That doesn't diminish the frustration caused to the many users who were unable to enjoy the subscriptions they had paid for on the large screen.
I am just glad to have it back and I do need to go back out to the store tomorrow for a refund on my new Google TV Streamer and the HDMI cable.

Hi
my problem has been for so long. Also my google home has the same problem. Please, fix them
03-15-2025 05:03 AM
If you like me did a factory reset there’s a workaround to again add it to your Google home. Just set the date back on your streaming unit (in my case iPhone) to march 6th or some other date before the incident. Then configure/add chromecast as usual. Hoping for a patch real soon!

Hello,
It is the 15th March and no resolution as yet.
Regarding the rollout of a fix for this issue:
Will it include support for ancient IPHONE's (for example an Iphone SE running version 15.8.3) ?
I'm afraid I was one of the poor unsuspecting group who performed a factory reset on the device as part of the diagnostic process.
Thanks in anticipation.
03-15-2025 06:05 AM
Update:
Set Date to 7th March after reading some of the other replies.
Google Home then managed to find the blessed thing and upgraded (so it says) the software.
All working now after returning the Date to the 'Automatic' option.
Excellent !

Still without TV through my chromecast. Of course I did a factory reset before I saw this as it’s worked in the past. How much longer will we be waiting?
03-15-2025 05:23 AM
I have a fix for factory reset problem. On my mobile phone change the date back a month then using the home app conect to chrome cast to get it to communicate with the app so it can connect to Internet and get the update. It takes a bit of time to update the gen2 chromecast but have been able to fix mine now.
