Gracias

I'm among those who did the factory reset (the reasonable thing, after trying all the other options). The message regarding this issue was made on Thursday. It has been an issue since Monday. The issue still hasn't been solved. I expect it to be fixed this afternoon (GMT +1).

Managed to get Chromecast online to receive any updates- sat the time on androide to before the crash and let the device update. There was an error that was prompted with "the install is taking longer than expected" - then I resat the time and made another reset and it was fixed. Not sure if this is an official way to go, but it worked out here.

Good Morning. Any News? Without knowing it, I reset my device. So?
Many thanks

Just don’t worry. Everything is back to normal now. People who factory reset the chromecast 2 will not be able to install it using the GoogleHome App unless they set the installing Tablet/Phone’s date to a date prior to 9th March 2025. Just set the date to 7th March 2025 and follow the normal procedure to set it up as usual. You will end up with the thing installed without all its features still without being able to stream any media, DONT WORRY. Just power on the Chromecast in the same WiFi environment that you set it up and leave it on its own for sometime. Just open your Google Home App every now and then to check whether it has been restored to the normal status. Don’t leave the TV on continuously just to save power but have the TV power on whenever you check the restoration process. Also ensure that all Tv + your Mobile phone / Tablet and the Chromecast to be set are exposed to the same WiFi environment that you used to set up with the date change. Things will get back to normal after few hours. Don’t forget to set the date back to the present date of the setting instrument. Best of Luck to all!! I have 100% success after following the aforesaid procedure.

Thank you!

This solved my problem!

I was setting the time on my mobile to 15th February 2025 and wasn't unable to connect to the device. But setting the date to 7th march worked fine and the device could be configured..

Thanks again!

Actually I have done factory reset before updates now it is not authentic the device please send me the steps to configure email #

For all the people who are factory resetting and wondering “what do I do now?”, this procedure will allow you to reconnect your Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network so that it can receive the firmware update fix that Google started offering on March 13th.

1) Temporarily set the date on your smartphone (or tablet) to March 7th or earlier.

2) Use the Google Home app to set up your Chromecast again. You still won’t be able to cast and the device will be grayed out in the Home app, but that’s okay. You can also change your phone’s date/time setting back to Automatic now.

3) Sit back and wait for the firmware update from Google to install. This should restore full functionality to your Chromecast.

Note: This is supposed to be a “staged rollout,” so it may take a few days for the firmware update to reach your Chromecast. Patience.
