Read the pinned status updates at the top of this page. Google started rolling out a firmware update fix on Thursday.
If you performed a factory reset, then you'll need to do this to allow your Chromecast to receive the update:

I already did a factory reset what can I do now please?

You're an anti-Semitic idiot troll, but I'll give you the solution anyway. Just do this:

03-15-2025 08:17 AM
Okay, let's take this from the beginning: have you, at any point since last Sunday, done a factory reset on your Chromecast in an effort to get it to work again?
03-15-2025 08:00 AM
Is this still happening as i cannot connect
03-15-2025 08:03 AM
If you've already done a factory reset, then you'll need to do this to allow your Chromecast to receive the firmware update fix that Google started rolling out on Thursday:
03-15-2025 08:06 AM
Have not factory reset, all i get is sillence
03-15-2025 08:02 AM

03-15-2025 08:03 AM

03-15-2025 08:20 AM
Do this to connect your Chromecast to the new Wi-Fi network:
03-15-2025 08:18 AM
I set my phone date 08.03.2025 and add my google chromcast with gppgle home, than chromcast take update and naw work properly.
03-15-2025 08:25 AM
I reseted my Chromecast when troubleshooting and now it still doesn’t work. Fix the problem now, please.

Joynow, did you have the Google Home app on your phone or tablet downloaded? If not make sure to do download that, then use the "add device" feature and add your chromecast. If you get the authentication error , then change the date in your phone or tablet. (Whichever device you downloaded Google Home on). Change the date to March 7th 2025. Once you do that go back and try to add your chromecast using the "add device" function in Google Home. It should work. When I did all these steps it worked.

If you performed a factory reset as part of your troubleshooting efforts, then you'll need to do this:
03-15-2025 08:30 AM
To restore device after factory reset, simply use a smartphone on which a date prior to March 9, 2025 has been manually set. After setup via the Google Home app, the device will update automatically, resolving the certificate issue.
03-15-2025 08:33 AM
Exactly. Why the hell can't Google just pin this information to the top of this page?
03-15-2025 08:37 AM
Well, what if you cant manually set an earlier date on iPhone?
03-15-2025 09:19 AM
Yes, apparently some cell phone providers lock down the date/time setting, especially on iphones.
If that's your situation, then the only solution I can think of would be to borrow someone else's smartphone or tablet and use it to get your Chromecast back online. That's the best thing I can think of.
03-15-2025 08:32 AM
What if I already tried to reset? Will it bot work anymore?
03-15-2025 08:34 AM
Change the date of the phone to march 1 and re setup, i just did that and it worked. it downloaded the update.
