Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Ohh my god for **bleep** sake, I seriously thought I had lost my mind. Reset tv and phone, removed and added device. 

Only when I check email that I just saw this. 

Why couldn't an update come to display on the device or a better alert system as I had no idea. 

Is the resolution to upgrade to new devices becuase they'll be discontinued and not supported? 

I think I'm gona call the police and tell my mum.

È più di 10 giorni che aspettiamo. Ho due dispositivi non funzionanti. Spiegatemi come fare oppure rimborsatemi la spesa totale per l'acquisto delle chromcast. Grazie

Lo tuve que recetear al no saber del problema,  pero esto ya lleva más de una semana, y urge que quede y me den instrucciones para que quede porfavor

Ok I did the change the date on my ph to the 1st march  and it worked it updated but I then had to reset the cast again for it to try to link to wifi with date on phone back to norm however it won't link 

What do you mean when you say "it won't link"? Do you mean it won't cast?

is there a more recent update in this issue. It has been over a week that this hasn’t been working! 

Google started rolling out a firmware update fix on Thursday.

 However, if you performed a factory reset during your initial troubleshooting, you'll need to do this to allow that update to be installed:

Consegui resolver o problema em meu Chromecast de 2° geração, usando a orientação de outro usuário desta comunidade:
-"Nas configurações do seu celular, desligue a data e horário automática e volte para o dia 8 de março; assim você conseguirá
fazer a conexão do
chromecast com a tv, mas ainda não fará transmissão.
P.S. Esse passo é importante pois, só assim, o Google conseguirá atualizar o firmware do seu Chromecast 2° geração. (Verificar
no Google home em
configurações (D versão) 2 se conseguiu fazer o passo acima aguarde até sua firmware atualizar para a versão 1.56.417165.
Estando já com essa
firmware instalada volte a
play story e desinstale (e reinstale) o app Google Home.
Após isso, a magia acontece, para quem
ainda está com a versão de firmware anterior aguarde a atualização do dispositivo, mantendo ele conectado à internet e ligado. Mas nada
disso acontecerá se não
fazer corretamente o passo 1.

Any advice for brand new CC Audio? In device utility I am getting "We couldn't authenticate your Chromecast Audio".

When is this issue going to fixed? It's about to hit a week. And I use the Chromecast alot and would like for it to be fixed as soon as possible. 😞
