I have a 2nd generation Chromecast, and unfortunately, I performed a factory reset, but I still can't connect to the device using the Home app. I must admit that I am very frustrated by this.

Una vez solucionen el problema para las personas que reseteamos antes de que enviaran el aviso de no hacerlo, van a notificarlo directamente a los usuarios, o porqué página web?
03-16-2025 01:18 PM
It’s been a week and nothing has been fixed. Not good enough.
03-16-2025 01:23 PM
If you’d sent the email to everyone earlier then people wouldn’t have factory reset it. We waited 2 days before trying factory reset, but it was 3 or 4 until you sent message out.
We factory reset and it’s still not setting back up.
03-16-2025 01:24 PM
Quando irão resolver?

For all the people who performed a factory reset during their initial troubleshooting, this procedure will allow you to reconnect your Chromecast to your Wi-Fi network, so that it can receive the firmware update fix that Google started rolling out on 3/13.
1) Temporarily set the date on your smartphone (or tablet) to March 7, 2025 or earlier. If you don't know how to do that, see below.*
2) Use the Google Home app to re-setup your Chromecast by adding it as a new device (+). You still won't be able to cast, and the device will be grayed out in the Home app, but that's ok. Most importantly, it'll now be reconnected to your Wi-Fi network so that it can receive the firmware update fix.
3) Change your phone's date/time setting back to Auto now.
4) Sit back and wait for the firmware update from Google to be installed. This should restore your Chromecast to full functionality.
Note: Supposedly it's being done as a "phased rollout", so it could take a while for the firmware update to hit your Chromecast. Also, some have reported that power-cycling your Chromecast (unplug/re-plug the power cable) will sort of "provoke" the firmware update to be installed. Patience.
*How to change your phone's date/time settings:
For iPhone/iPad: go to Settings, General, Date & Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.
For most Android phones/tablets: Settings, General Management, Date and Time. Disable "Auto" and manually set the date to March 7, 2025 or earlier.
**Google REALLY should pin this information to the top of this page.**

GOOD NEWS! I pretty much did the same about half an hour ago. IT WORKED FOR ME TOO!!!😃😃😁
03-16-2025 01:35 PM
It is now even worse. It least I could watch some selection, now nothing is working at all.
03-16-2025 01:36 PM
Unfortunately it is still not working. I did the factory reset. Any news when it will be fixed?
03-16-2025 01:35 PM
Demora enorme. O que fazer?
03-16-2025 01:39 PM
Both of mine are still not working. Very annoying, thinking of switching away from Google now...
I factory restarted our devices as they sometimes experience hiccups time to time, but it's never been this bad!

03-16-2025 01:50 PM
03-16-2025 01:58 PM
If you have done a factory reset -
Change the date on your smartphone to 6th March. Using Google Home add your Chromecast. This will work, but Iplayer, eg, will still not cast. Wait an hour. Will work. This is a repeat of earlier posts. About time Google read it.
