Will the software be updated if the Chromecast is plugged in, recognized as being on the LAN but with an "off line" status? I re-booted the dongle but didn't do a factory reset.

Where is to resolution if factory resetted already?

WHEN WILL MY CHROMECAST BE FIXED!!!
03-16-2025 11:29 PM
Hi. When will my chromecast be fixed. I have asked for a response several times but still nothing. What the f$#ck are you guys doing?

Grazie a tutti!

I had the same problem with my Chromecast (2nd Gen) and iPhone in Germany. Here's what worked for me – no guarantees!
1️⃣Connected the Chromecast and waited for it to boot.
2️⃣Manually set the date on my iPhone to February 17, 2025.
3️⃣Opened Google Home and started the Chromecast setup.
4️⃣At the final step, the screen showed that it was trying to connect, but pressing Next didn’t work.
5️⃣Closed the Google Home app completely.
6️⃣Kept the Chromecast plugged in and reset my iPhone’s date to automatic.
7️⃣After a few minutes, I reopened Google Home, and suddenly, my old Chromecast (2nd Gen) was back – working again! 🎉

It is working , thank You 👍🏻☺️

Oh how I wish this would have worked for me. Unfortunately when I changed the date and time it then wouldn’t connect my phone to the wifi 🤦♀️🤦♀️ lost all internet connection

Did you just go back to March 7th? I saw where people went back a year😕 and that didn’t work.
03-17-2025 12:23 AM
Is it working again, if You have reset the device?
03-17-2025 12:40 AM
Yes, just try to customize date to 7th march and setup as usual

We have a problem with the volume buttons
It changed after the latest Chromcast update
On my phone I can't adjust the volume as I want, it usually shows a separate CC icon
Anyone else have the same problem?

Any updates on what to do if you’ve factory reset the chrome cast before the issue was resolved?

Manually set the date back 14 days on your phone. Then it will connect to your wifi and promptly auto-update itself.
03-17-2025 12:38 AM
Still unable to finish set up.
please advise when fix for factory restore will be available?
03-17-2025 12:49 AM
Any updates since Thursday? Still have the same issue
03-17-2025 12:55 AM
Still waiting... is there anything going on...?
03-17-2025 01:05 AM
SOLVED !!! Chromecast 2 gen. Had factory reset at first. Set the phone clock manually before March 8th. Was then able to connect to wifi but still not casting. Then Google must have release an update as Yesterday (3/16) the device automatically dowloaded it and now it works perfectly. Thank you.

Hi. Unfortunately I didn’t have power on my Chromecast + Audio and wasn’t aware of the roll out. I have had power on the devices since yesterday and they still don’t work. What can I do?
03-17-2025 01:18 AM
we have ALL factory reset our devices as that's what YOU advised us to do! I have had no TV i for 11 days now as i ONLY stream. FIX this!!!! you're a billion pound company!

If you resetted it like I did, just change your phone's date to March 8th or earlier and start the process of setting up your Chromecast from the Google Home app. Unfortunately, this still doesn't fix the casting issue, but it does leave you on the Chromecast wallpaper screen so it can receive the update.
03-17-2025 01:26 AM
Manually reset my Pixel 7 on March 5th and reinstalled everything. Everything works again.
03-17-2025 01:35 AM
For thoes who reset their chromcast like me. Manually change the time in one of your device to for ex 25th Feb, and start the setup and you will be connected again, you can receive the update and your device work again, I just did it today.
03-17-2025 05:06 AM
How can I do this? Change the time? In my phone? Or Chromecast?
03-17-2025 05:35 AM
On the phone, disable automatic sync date/time and force the date before 8th march
03-17-2025 01:37 AM
How soon can this be fixed please?
03-17-2025 01:44 AM
Hi I have the additional problem of my WiFi Modem collapsing as well, so I have been forced to get a new modem, so it cannot link at all. Are you able to send me a patch for that once it is up and running again. I think I have a Gen 2. Kind Regards Sandy
