I done the factory reset but, after, I reconnected chromecast to my WIFI by using a phone with date reversed before 8/3/2025.  I will receive the fix in this case or no?

Thanks

Bye

Maybe quicker information to your customers before making people reset chromecast to factory settings? Kind of annoying to spend hours trying to fix something you already knew were pointless.

No funciona mis Chrome cast!!! Cómo hago para que vuelvan a funcionar???

Restaurei de fabrica agora não entra mais

For those who reset their device to factory. Kindly setup your device again by changing your date to 08/03/2025 of your android phone in order to receive a  fix for a device.

I reset my Chromecast and now it won't reconnect what do I do please

For those of us who didn't reset the 2nd Gen Chromecast:

At 8:30 PM GMT, the issue was resolved by disconnecting and reconnecting the device.

After an on-screen update with a progress bar, the 2nd Gen Chromecast is back to normal.

Google Home recognizes it perfectly, and you can stream again as before.

This is exciting news!  You appear to be the only person on here who has received the fix though!  I'm surprised that Google haven't updated the status to say the fix is available.  You say 8:30pm GMT....are you in the GMT timezone?  I'm one of the people who did a factory reset & I've been waiting to see Google confirm a fix rollout before doing anything more, including the "time-travel" step that is being pushed so much on here.  I'm not very techie, so although I get the idea of it, I think I'd prefer to have Google instruct me to do it before messing with the date on my CC.

I'm sorry but this is unacceptable. As someone who works in tech support, this should be resolved already. The fact that you still don't have a resolution for those us of us who followed your companies direct instructions to factory reset, leaving us with nothing on multiple Chromecasts ( almost a week & counting ) is disappointing. I will NEVER buy a Google Chromecast or a Google product again. How this whole situation was handled & continues to be handled, is unacceptable. Transparency, honesty & efficiency are 3 things I would expect from Google, but the company failed at all 3.

Not good enough.

So assuming that the chromecast was broken I threw it out and spent £60 on a new one for nothing?

this has been an ongoing disruption for months by now and it’s been irritating not be able to use my chrome cast. I feel there should some type of compensation for this obscurely long disruption/error.

Sigue sin funcionar !!!!! Que debo hacer ???? Esto me tiene harta !!!!

How many days will it be okay?

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Aún tengo problemas con mí chromecast

Thanks for the fix.

My 5 devices are working again.

Mind if I ask how? Did you do a factory reset and then the change date trick or what happened?

Please advise what the problem is as simply saying that you are trying to fix something without advising what is daft

Estamos trabajando y bla bla...

This is embarrassing for a “Tech Giant” to not have a contingency plan in place for their product and software. Also waiting two days to address it, I’m sure nearly everyone has tried to reset it to get it back online.
I have three of them and they are useless until they have the fix for if you reset them.

Really glad I didn’t change over to their phone this year, I wouldn’t have days (or weeks) to wait while they try to make something I bought from them work.

Mistakes happen, but please send an email to Google accounts that have a Chromecast linked to them. I wasted 4 hours of my life until I found this.

Eu realizei a redefinição.. como procedo?

how we can access to the solution? Would you automatically update the device? Should we keep the device connected & on? Please inform users about the method of accessing to the solution. Tnx

Keep your Chromecast connected to a power supply.

No way! Hope mine is soon! 🤞🏻

Well darn...poop on me for factory resetting the thing during my failed troubleshooting.

For those who reset their device:

Go to your phone or tablet settings and set the date to before March 9. Then, open the Google Home app and set up your Chromecast again.

Once you’ve finished reinstalling and configuring it, change your device’s date back to the current date. When you try to cast something to your Chromecast, you’ll see a message saying that the firmware is not up to date.

This process will restore your Chromecast as if it had never been reset. This is just a workaround to get it set up again while we wait for Google to fix the issue.

Very useful!! Thanks for the tip! It worked!

Fix it ASAP please. This is a nightmare.

Oh no! I already performed a factory reset 😭 Hope the issue will be fixed soon 🙏

I do hope you guys can get it fixed before tomorrow night, because I do watch a study live on there and I’ll have to watch it on the small phone screen if it doesn’t. I mean, it’s fine, just not good for study

Hola Google si hicieron el factor y reset para volver a configurarlo sólo deben poner fecha de 8 de marzo en sus móviles y volver a levantarlo. Luego solo queda esperar la actualización
