If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.
If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

J ai acheté cette chrome cast il y a maintenant au moins 4 ans et j en prend grand soin .
Tout ce que je d'amande c est que ça fonctionne et vite car ça commence sérieusement a m'agacer.
Réglez le problème rapidement ou envoyez moi une chrome cast qui fonctionne !

“Your device must be connected” - what can I do to reconnect it? All options to connect don’t seem to work (via BT “connection failed”, when using the wifi route, I cannot see my home wifi when I need to connect). I didn’t perform a reset

I solved it ... Even though I reset the device I managed to get it to reconnect to my wifi network by changing the date on my smartphone to March 7th
Once the connection was established it did the update (I think the new certificate) and I managed to get it to restart.

Step 1 (most important)
Make sure you are connected to your google account on your phone (in the Google home app) at top right corner on the phone
That will give Google access to your Chromecast so they can upload the software fix (for this you just wait)

If you have factory reset your Chromecastn set the date onyourphe to 1st March 2025, add your cheromecast to Google Home in the normal way. Follow the process, when it gets stuck, close Google Home and reset the fate to Automatic. Reopen Google Home and the chromecast.

Um dos chromecast eu havia redefinido as condições de fábrica na tentativa de fazer funcionar no domingo, antes de saber do problema que afetou todos segunda geração. Dois outros chromecast já estão funcionando, porque eu não havia tomado nenhuma atitude, desconfiando que algo grave havia acontecido. Para quem ainda está tendo problemas e assim como eu, restaurado ao padrão de fábrica, solução possível (deu certo aqui)
Mude a data do Celular para 03/07/2005,
Faça as configurações no Google Home, o Chrome Cast vai atualizar, depois é só colocar os dados certos no celular.
