What if we factory reset the device? I did so thinking it would fix the issue. The statements on this site were not posted yet. Will my device still work when a fix rolls out?

I have 4 Chromecast Audio devices & 1 Chromecast Mini.

The Audio devices all stopped working and as they were in a group with the Mini I originally thought it was an issue with my router or the mesh-repeaters I have.

I reset the router and the mesh devices but still no joy.

I then reset all of the Chromecasts, including the mini.

I then deleted the group they were all in and started by setting up the Mini again. No problem there, connects fine and plays audio.

Next I tried one of the Audio units. Home found it and asked if I wanted to set it up. I clicked yes, but after a while it just said "Could not communicate with your Chromecast Audio."

I get this with all 4 of them. I also have two full Chromecasts that haven't been used for a while and I get the same result with those too.

I have tried everything I can think of, including connecting the WiFi to the Chromecast first and then opening Home to set them up. Nothing is working.

Mobile (cellular) data is off, WiFi calling is off.

Is there anything I can do? Or should I just bite the bullet and go talk to 'Alexa'?

Exact same. Looks like a global issue.

I wouldn't mind so much if you could still get the audio only Chromecast, I bought the second two when they were discontinued. I've had them quite a while and don't expect anything to last forever, but...

I've tried that and unfortunately I still get the same "Could not communicate with your Chromecast Audio." 🙁

I tried that but unfortunately it didn't work for me. 😕

It's a Google issue not an issue with you. Someone forgot to update the certificates for older gen 2 Chromecasts and Chromecast audio. You should have gotten an email from Google like I got after I spent 3 hours troubleshooting. My regular Chromecast works now but the Chromecast audio is still out. It's either because I did a factory reset and removed it from my home group or they're getting to the audios last. This is why you're mini was not affected. Only the older equipment

Yeah, it's just a shame I've reset all 4 of my Audio's. At least I still have the Mini to use until (if) it gets sorted out. It was nice to be able to wander around the house and have the sound synced in every room...

When is it going to be fixed?

Gracias
