This worked for me but the device doesnt show up in Google home.
03-10-2025 12:46 PM
What does this accomplish and how does it affect the ability to stream/cast?
03-10-2025 05:27 PM
You can't stream it just unbricks the device.
Google needs to replace all these devices as they have no fix.
03-10-2025 06:25 PM

03-10-2025 11:26 PM

A bit late instructing not to factory reset now, as that is one of the few instructions you did provide before this message. How will we be informed on how recover our bricked units?
03-10-2025 09:32 AM
Same authentication error while connecting chromecast. After reset. Same issue from 24 hours
03-10-2025 09:34 AM

03-10-2025 09:38 AM
Same here the chromecast stopped working 6 pm CET I reset the device since it was in the troubleshooting any updates about the reconfiguration and the issues with untrusted device?

Please offer a solution for those who did factory reset as part of the troubleshooting actions. 🤖

Ok, now the problem is known to Google. It concerns an expired certificate in the firmware. It will probably take a few more days before Google pushes a firmware update. It is recommended not to reset your chromecast. Because then it will no longer connect to the internet at all. To reconnect your Chromecast, there is a "workaround". -Set the date of your phone 1 day back, via settings. -You will then receive error messages from other apps that the date is incorrect, but then you CAN reconnect your chromecast to the internet, via the HOME app. -Set the date back to today. This works, because the certificate expired yesterday at 16:38. Your chromecast will then be connected to the internet again, then you have to wait until Google has the firmware update ready and pushed it to your chromecast. Good luck guys

This works! Anybody that reset their Chromecast should do this and your Chromecast will reconnect. It won't be able to stream like stated above, but it will be available to receive the fix.
03-10-2025 11:36 AM
It worked for me. My Chromecast is connected to my wifi despite the hard reset.
Ça a marché pour moi. Mon Chromecast s'est reconnecté au wifi malgré le reset forcé. Je n'y ai touj5pas accès pour caster par contre,il faut attendre la correction du bug par Google.
03-10-2025 02:28 PM
After I recovered my Chromecast Audio in the same way as you described, I used the workaround of Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/Chromecast/comments/1j7lhrs/comment/mgy1a88/ "Fix casting from Android (GUI method)" to set Android 8 parameter "CastSettingsCollapsingDebugAction".
It's not a real solution but I'm able to stream again with some restrictions until Google will bring an official fix.
03-10-2025 04:29 PM
this is terrible
03-14-2025 04:23 AM
I have done this steps after I reset my chromecast to factory settings. It seems to get connected to my wifi but it does not list under my devices in my google home account. Is this still going to work for waiting the update?
03-10-2025 09:46 AM
Set back the date to before 8 march on your device. Then you can reconnect your cromecast. It will not be able to stream before the fix comes, but it will be able to receive the fix.
03-10-2025 09:50 AM
Actually worked 👍🏼. I change the date on the phone for the 4th of March and at least it's back online to receive the updates
03-10-2025 10:27 AM
How does one reset the date on an ipad home app??
03-10-2025 10:29 AM
You don't change the date in the home app, you change the date on your device. So go into settings on your iPad and change the date, then re-set up your Chromecast in Google Home, then change your date back on your ipad.
03-10-2025 10:33 AM
Thank you!
03-10-2025 11:31 AM
I was able to setup Chromecast using back date on my device. But even after that device does not connect to Chromecast
03-10-2025 12:13 PM
Correct, it's not going to stream/cas until they push through the fix...but now that it's at least set up, it will be able to receive the fix when it gets pushed through.
03-10-2025 11:05 AM
sull'ipad devi reimpostarla, non sull'app...
03-10-2025 11:14 AM
I just done follow your advice, finally i can reconnect my chromcast again....woww thanks
03-10-2025 03:49 PM
If you set your 'phone/tablet etc that has Google Home App on to a date before 8th March in the system settings then try to connect your Chromecast it will then work as if you hadn't factory reset it - it wont stream but with undo the factory reset!
03-10-2025 09:42 AM
ya lo restablecí... es lo que siempre nos indican y es lo que hacemos para que vuelva a funcionar.... que va a pasar ahora?... se va a solucionar? en cuanto tiempo?
03-10-2025 09:41 AM
