Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi.. I factory reset my chromecast since that is the 1st thing I have done whenever something went wrong. So, please let me know if the fix you will implement would be applicable to such devices too. Also, when can we expect the fix to be implemented. Thanks.

Too late to say don't do a factory reset when it's one of the suggestions included in reconnection instructions after trying other steps first! Aaaaaarrrgggghhhh.

You have not specified the issue in detail but I am experiencing an issue with both 1st and 2nd generation Chromecast devices.

The issue is simple, I am able to cast (YouTube and other apps) to these devices but they are not showing the personalized pictures in ambient mode. The 2nd generation Chromecast was set to show pictures from my Google Photos but it is showing some random pictures from Internet. The 1st generation Chromecast was set to show paintings and artworks which is working fine but I when I try to change anything with my Google Home app, both devices are being shown as "Offline".

I pay for my streaming services and this is not ok. Why no solution yet? Off course I reset my chromecast! It said to do so on your advice-paige last sunday when the chromecast died!

I am very disappointed on how Google handled the whole issue and for their significant delay. 4 days after and only apologizing messages.

Nice to know that is and already known issue, but reading not to restart the system here is too late as Google recommends to do it as first thing in its troubleshooting guidelines.

When will the update come what is the ETA - I already made a factory reset

To all of you, who have already reset the device to factory default. do this to get back to start: your device will be ok. Just find an old ipad, or an old android phone, set the date on your device to Mar 8, and setup your chromecast as normal from the google home app, and your all set. BUT you still cant cast anything, you will get the message:  Unauthorized device : until google fix this problem.
