Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Hello.
This is seriously F***** up! For some of us this is our only way to watch TV and if you are early retired with a body in pain, this is also the only thing to pass time 😡😭
Writing that we shouldn't factory reset is almost hilarious cause honestly probably most of your users did that within the first hour on the day this breakdown happened, either on their own, searching Google for or calling any kind of support.
So I serious hope you have that in mind, logically thinking maybe 5% didn't do it!

What happens if you have already reset your device. as its is listed in the troubleshooting guide.
before finding out that there was a greater problem with the Chromecast devices.
I hope they find a solution for the issue soon as it would be a shame to lose such a device as the Chromecast.
I often travel with this device when we are on long drives or on the ocean.
in helps to be able to settle my neurodivergent children. By allowing them access to their favourite tv shows no matter where I am in the world. Or what time of day or night it is.
This device has been a amazing tool for me and my children.

Hi, I'm Marcelo Costa, from Argentina.
My Chromecast suddenly stopped working about two weeks ago. Not knowing regarding your recommendation to "not reset to factory settings", we pressed the little button and restarted the device to factory settings.
Now my Chromecast won't sync with the Google Home app on my phone.
The app recognizes the Chromecast, indicating its number "chromecast8204," and then the code E5X8 automatically appears on my TV screen, requiring me to validate this code in the app on my phone. However, the app never allows me to validate this code. Additionally, the app displays a message indicating there is a problem and recommending contacting Google support.
How can I solve the problem?

Podés volver a sincronizarlo si cambias la fecha de tu celular manualmente a antes del 9 de marzo (día en que comenzaron los problemas).
De todos modos no está funcionando el envío de multimedia, pero supuestamente están trabajando para solucionarlo. Espero mi respuesta sea de ayuda!

When trying to fix it in the first place, part of Google instruction (and final step) was to attempt Factory Reset so we did to no avail. We will not retry.

I'm a fan of Google. I have YTM and Youtube Premium, Google One, Gemini subscription (the last is still a tryout) Just a thought. I have 4 Chromecasts Audio and three Chromcast for TV. All these in two locations. The Audio Chromecasts I bought on classiffied for about 100 USD each. This way I can use my old Stereo HI FI equipments, and trust me they are WAY above all those active speakers that you can buy now. I have grouped my Stereo systems to streame the same Youtube Music I have a Premium Subscription. Just last week I bought two other Audio Chromecasts also on classiffied. Approx. 70 USD each. Chromecast Audio is a High Resolution piece of equipment. It has audio jack and optical output. Youtube Music sound quality is similar to Tidal and probably better, anyway it sounded better to me and other friend (that work with sound in cinema) when made a hearing test YTM vs Tidal High Resolution. For now, all this is gone. It is not bad enough that Google do not make Audio Chromecast anymore, now we cannot use them anyway. I only hope Google cares about their Customers. We that use Chromecasts are not corporate, but Google is big because of us, the small customers. Please do not let us down!
