If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Do you have an updte on your time frame? By now my streaming apps aren’t even seeeing the google chrome cast audio anymore nd google home still says it is off line.

For those who reset their device to factory settings, simply disable automatic time and date settings on your phone. Change the date a few days before March 9th, then start the reconfigure from the google Home app...that's all..!!

Hi everyone, Just wanted to share my experience. I performed a factory reset on my device, which Google had advised against. After the reset, I rolled back the date on my phone, and the connection was successful. Following this, there was a firmware update from Google. Now, everything works fine—I’m able to cast all OTT platforms and YouTube without any issues.

Suite aux différents commentaires sur j'ai lu, j'ai pu réparer ma Chromecast.
Si vous avez remis l'appareil à l'état usine comme moi, Voici la procédure à suivre :
1) changer la date de votre smartphone au 8 mars 2025 via "paramètre/paramètre supplémentaire/date et heure"
2) ouvrez google Home et ajouter un appareil Chromecast (la configuration de l'appareil, la connexion au wifi et les remises à jour vont pouvoir se faire)
3) à la fin de la configuration j'ai eu un message me disant que ce n'est pas encore possible de terminer la mise à jour entièrement pour l'instant, appuyez sur le bouton "quitter la configuration" et fermez google home.
4) remetez la date du jour sur votre smartphone
5) redémarrer google home : la Chromecast est à nouveau fonctionnel !

Hi,
I had to change my router and wireless SSID as part of a wireless infra upgrade. So my Google Nest Mini became unresponsive due to the network change. So I had to perform a factory reset as part of connecting to the new SSID/wireless network and now its still unresponsive after setting up in Google Home app.
Is this because of the issue noted in this thread? If so, when can we expect a workaround for folks in my situation?

Ho cambiato la data del mio smartphone al 15 febbraio e poi provato a riconfigurare il Chromecast. Ebbene, ci sono riuscita! Dopodiché il Chromecast si è aggiornato e ho potuto usarlo con la data corretta.

I had already done the factory reset here's how I fixed my chromcast,
(Andriod) settings - general - date time- turn off auto date/time setting, manually set date to MARCH 8,2025 then I was able to connect it to my WiFi, let it sit over night, next morning there it was ready to use, works perfectly again, you can turn your auto date setting on again as soon as your chromecast is connected to your wifi

I did what someone said here earlier: set the date of my Phone back to March 5. I had reset my chromecast to factoren settings. Now Google could not find the chromecast and so i could not make an setups again.
But with the date on March 5, in no time the chromecast was found. Had only to rename it. Im not sure about the update...but so far i can stream again 😃👍
