hi, you need to temporarily set your phone date to before march 8 2025 and then re-install the device.

you can then change your phone date back, but that will be enough for it to connect and download the bug fixes. i did this yesterday and it went fairly smooth.

still cant conntect after factory reset. please help

I would like to point out that I was not aware that Google engineers were working on the solution and the recommendation not to reset the device to factory settings. In fact, after several attempts to restore the Chromecast device, I also tried the device reset option. By doing so, the device's network settings were completely reset. The device was no longer connected to the Internet and therefore unreachable for any updates. This is because obviously I learned late that my problem was not just my problem but that it affected thousands of users. In short, on 20250316 I decided to make the following attempt: I had read that to re-establish the connection with the device, you could restore the smartphone to a date prior to 20250308. For the sake of safety, I used an old smartphone, which I restored to the date of 20250307. From Google Home I recreated the environment to host the device. I then performed the search for the device that Google Home found. I was then able to complete the configuration of the chromecast by adding the device to the home network. Once the configuration was complete, the chromecast downloaded updates from the Internet. The device returned to working normally
I hope this feedback of mine can be useful
Regards

Google team, we are a waiting for an update, 😕

Any news for those who followed the troubleshooting and factory reset before the guide not to came out?

So? Is there going to be a solution to the ones that were reset?

By when will this be resolved

Merci

Do we have an estimated time of completion for the completed fix, I'm one of those people that jumped the gun and factory reset my chromecast

My Chromecast Audio is back online!

Cuanto tiempo tarda el inconveniente?

Gracias

It has been over a week and the issue remains unresolved on my device which was factory reset during my troubleshooting efforts. If Google can't resolve this issue then Chromecast users should be offered a replacement at no cost or an upgrade to a functioning newer device with a substantial discount to replace the bricked devices.

Lamentablemente he reiniciado a modo fábrica mi equipo

Still waiting

Is there any update for the people who have done factory reset during the issue? When do you expect the issue to be sorted out? Give us an expected date.

The instructions have already been published in the comments, pin them at the top - you need to manually set the date on the phone to March 1, 2025. And install the device through Google Home. Everything works. It helps even if a factory reset was made.

Hi Team,

Still am not able to reconfigure after reboot chromecast. May I know when this issue will resolve. Kindly resolve at the earliest as it has not working for me more than a week.

Thanks

It’s been a week and no updates on status.. Whats going on?!

Hi, how long before there is a fix for those of us who followed the usual fix process - which included instructions to reset on your help page even after this issue arose

Still waiting... how's the exercise in planned obsolescence going?

Saluti.
