hi, you need to temporarily set your phone date to before march 8 2025 and then re-install the device.
you can then change your phone date back, but that will be enough for it to connect and download the bug fixes. i did this yesterday and it went fairly smooth.

still cant conntect after factory reset. please help

I would like to point out that I was not aware that Google engineers were working on the solution and the recommendation not to reset the device to factory settings. In fact, after several attempts to restore the Chromecast device, I also tried the device reset option. By doing so, the device's network settings were completely reset. The device was no longer connected to the Internet and therefore unreachable for any updates. This is because obviously I learned late that my problem was not just my problem but that it affected thousands of users. In short, on 20250316 I decided to make the following attempt: I had read that to re-establish the connection with the device, you could restore the smartphone to a date prior to 20250308. For the sake of safety, I used an old smartphone, which I restored to the date of 20250307. From Google Home I recreated the environment to host the device. I then performed the search for the device that Google Home found. I was then able to complete the configuration of the chromecast by adding the device to the home network. Once the configuration was complete, the chromecast downloaded updates from the Internet. The device returned to working normally
I hope this feedback of mine can be useful
Regards

My Chromecast Audio is back online!
03-17-2025 09:36 AM
Cuanto tiempo tarda el inconveniente?
Gracias

It has been over a week and the issue remains unresolved on my device which was factory reset during my troubleshooting efforts. If Google can't resolve this issue then Chromecast users should be offered a replacement at no cost or an upgrade to a functioning newer device with a substantial discount to replace the bricked devices.

Still waiting
03-17-2025 09:47 AM
Is there any update for the people who have done factory reset during the issue? When do you expect the issue to be sorted out? Give us an expected date.
03-17-2025 09:51 AM
The instructions have already been published in the comments, pin them at the top - you need to manually set the date on the phone to March 1, 2025. And install the device through Google Home. Everything works. It helps even if a factory reset was made.

Still waiting... how's the exercise in planned obsolescence going?
03-17-2025 10:00 AM
Saluti.
