Update 3/20/25

Hey folks, 

If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.

Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

If you’re still experiencing problems during setup, please reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Hi folks,

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.

If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.

We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hi everyone,

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:

Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165

Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166

Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.

Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

We have started to roll out a fix for the problem with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices, which will be completed over the next few days. Your device must be connected to receive the update.

If you performed a factory reset during initial troubleshooting, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup your device. We are working to resolve this as soon as possible. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates and next steps.

An update on the situation: the team has identified the cause of the issue impacting Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices.

Please do not factory reset your device. If you previously performed a factory reset during troubleshooting, you may also be experiencing an issue where you're unable to re-setup your device. The team has identified the cause for this as well and is currently working on a fix.

We’re working to resolve this as soon as possible, and will keep you updated when there is more to share.

Após atualização meu ponto não mantém conexão com meu iPhone mesmo as configurações estando corretas. No momento de conectar com Wi-Fi ele falha pq relata que nao conexão com o iPhone 

Meu eu restaurei 

Eu também, dezenas de vezes, antes do Google falar que não era para fazer isso. Tentei agora há pouco configurar novamente colocando a data do meu smartphone anterior ao dia 9/3. Ele segue toda a configuração, mas não mantém a conexão com o wifi. Até voltou as imagens de fundo e o relógio, mas a conexão e o compartilhamento não funcionam.

Eu alterei a data do meu celular (android) para 7/3 e consegui fazer a conexão do Chromecast com o celular. Agora resta esperar a boa vontade da Google para resolver o problema. Da forma q está agora, está igual domingo à noite, ele acha o Chromecast mas dá erro para transmitir.

Io ho impostato il telefonino manualmente alla data 8 di marzo e ho fatto una nuova ricerca con google home, anche se prima ho fatto riset alle impostazioni di fabbrica. Adesso funziona perfettamente!

Consegui reconectar meu Chromecast alterando a data do meu celular para antes de 10 de março.

Hola. Cómo lo hiciste. Que datos alteraste. Yo aún no pude conectar mi Chromecast 

Cambiar la fecha de teléfono. En configuración reloj cambiar a antes del 10 de marzo, entrar al app Home y agregar  el dispositivo configura wifi. Y Google hará el resto. A si me funcionó

Está correto o que você fez, a conexão será efetivada após o Google enviar a atualização.  Não reset. Aguarde. O meu voltou a funcionar hoje.

Coloquei a data 02/03 no telefone e configure novamente

Je moet gewoon op de fix wachten. Eerst en vooral moet je nog in Google home je chromecast zien. Die staat normaal met geen wifi. Had je reset factory settings gedaan dan moet je eerst je smartphone naar een vroegere daarom zetten bv 7 maart ofzo en je chromecast terug toevoegen in Google home. Ik heb mijn tv een ganse dag laten aanstaan zodat de chromecast ook actief is.  Mijn zijn had daarstraks de tv uitgezet en toen ik hem terug aanzette en naar de chromecast ging was hij bezig met de update.

Resultou comigo.
Coloca o telemóvel com data de 8 de março, abre a app home e configura o chromecast. repoe a data e testa.

 

Cambia la fecha en tu fono al día anterior del desastre y con el Home pruebas instalar hasta que te muestre los fondos de pantalla luego vuelve tu fono a la fecha actual
