Can we get an update or like some sort of an idea of when the problem will possibly be fixed?
03-11-2025 02:29 PM
I called Google Nest CS this morning and I was basically told they are aware of the situation, there's no time frame for a fix but if and when there is one I'll get an email
03-11-2025 06:41 AM
Please do let me know when a fix will be rolled out and what are the steps to follow

@GoogleNestTeamThanks for acknowledging the issue,
I appreciate that you're working on a fix at the moment, but could you please provide an ETA?
It would save us all having to retry / troubleshoot / constantly scour this forum and the rest of the internet for the anticipated fix.
For the rest of the users here, I can share the findings of a fellow user posted in the Home Automation section - he offers a couple of workarounds there.
(I've not tried them yet myself, but will be sure to update here once I do).

When can we expect a reply on the next steps also if factory reset is done what is the next option

Is the Issue Fixed?

Excellent workarounds that will restore Gen2 casting from Android devices and Chrome browser, until Google issues a proper security certificate fix. These instructions will work to restore casting, even if you've already done a factory reset.

Too late, I reset it....

Hi,
I have already done factory reset and now it’s completely unusable as it gives an error related authentication. Please suggest how can this be resolved? Just like others I am also facing this issue since Sunday evening.

Just joining the community of angry chromecast users with an expired certificate
03-11-2025 07:14 AM
Tat of fix??? It's taking a while. A lot of people already have the same issue
03-11-2025 07:15 AM
I have the same issue with my Chromecast Audio devices. Could you please notify by email how or when the issue will be solved? Also, it would be even better to put the Chromecast Audio back into production as there is not any alternative from Google that simply outputs audio via a standard stereo plug to an amplifier or HIFI system like the Chromecast audio does. It's so frustrating that such a great device is no longer supported!
03-11-2025 07:18 AM
I already reset my device I'm so mad. I have 2 tvs useless.........
03-11-2025 07:17 AM
When will it happen?
03-11-2025 07:21 AM
I feel relieved to see so many people encounter the same problem as me.
Hahahaha😘
03-11-2025 07:23 AM
I thought it was just me!
03-11-2025 07:31 AM
Where would be the best place to watch for updates?
03-11-2025 07:32 AM
I have three Chromcast 3rd GENERATION installed in my house and all of them stopped working on March 09, 2025. Is necessary Google to be aware that the Chromecast failure is not only with 2nd Generation devices.
03-11-2025 07:35 AM
What is ETC to get this fixed?
03-11-2025 07:36 AM
03-11-2025 07:39 AM
48 hours and counting while the only "official" communication has been this short, non-scripted, pretty lame message without even recognizing the mistake: "largely known that is due (in part) to Google not checking on the certification end-date". Really insane to think that not a single person said: "Hey, should we use like GOOGLE ALERTS or GOOGLE CALENDAR to see when things end?".
Now, millions of users have an obsolete expensive thing looking to buy a competitor device while Google goes radio-silent without even a "it will be fixed X day".
You can say that is probably one of the worst PR approaches ever.
03-11-2025 07:46 AM
Please fix this as I have 5 Chromecast Audio devices and 1 Chromecast 2gen affected by this.
03-11-2025 07:46 AM
Could you send me the fix for a factory reset chromecast 3rd gen? I accidentally panicked and reset it. Now when I check my android wifi settings the chromecast3498.b device says no internet under its name. But all the other devices(laptop, hello Google ) I rebooted the chromecast. I restarted my router. I know have the wifi internet working on all other devices.
My email address is: #
