If you previously performed a factory reset, we’re happy to report that the Google Home app update will reach all users today.
Please make sure you’re on version 3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio. Check out this help center article if you need help updating the Google Home app.

Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve the issue with Chromecast (2nd gen) and Chromecast Audio devices. As of today, this disruption has been fixed.
If you did not perform a factory reset, your device should now function normally. If it is still not functioning as intended check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
For users who have performed a factory reset, you will need to update your Google Home app to the latest version (3.30.1.6 for Android and 3.30.106 for iOS) to set up your Chromecast (2nd gen) or Chromecast Audio device again. The app roll out has begun and may take a few days to roll out to everyone. We’ll post a confirmation once the roll out to all users is complete.
We sincerely apologize for this disruption and any inconvenience it may have caused, and we are committed to ensuring all users are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Thank you again for your patience, we have some good news - the fix should reach all users today. If your device has received the update it should be on the following firmware versions:
Chromecast (2nd gen): Firmware version 1.56.467165
Chromecast Audio: Firmware version 1.56.467166
Check the firmware version of your device by following the instructions here. If your device is not on the corresponding firmware version, please try rebooting your device to start the update process.
Please note: If you performed a factory reset during the troubleshooting process, you may still be experiencing an issue where you cannot re-setup the device. The team is working diligently to resolve this, and we will provide next steps as soon as possible.

Why not give people information to their Gmail report it to the news release it on social media hey and maybe use Gemini to let us know when an approximate date for this fix may come about? There are so many avenues you could use to communicate with the Google customers. Yes we are Google customers we got into bed with you when we bought your items. Even tell us if it's time to get out of that bed because I'm certainly considering it because it's just too long now. I think that because this is such a cheap device you're not interested in really fixing it and probably have one person in a little shack stuck in the outer reaches of society working on a possible fix. I have lost all confidence that Google is a reliable company and only you can restore that confidence. Come on surely you could put some backbone into this instead of yawning and drumming your fingers on the desk thinking what could be wrong.
I think it would be wonderful if everybody got together and said we're leaving Google We're going to go to Apple what would you do then? Yes they cost more money but hey they're reliable and when you need a fix they're there on the phone to answer you.
I think Google's gone back to the 1970s and will never recover back into the 21st century.
Sorry people I am just very annoyed with this very sad situation that is totally ruined my listening experience to so many things. First our groups went so you can't have group voice commands and they all start playing lovely. Now me personally in this home not the richest of people not the healthiest of people living in retirement and trying to enjoy some music to dull the pains and aches of old age I cannot no longer do that. No I know you don't care but hey nor do I anymore not for Google or your products. Three times I've had the pixel 9 in my shopping basket and stopped. I believe that was divine intervention cos they suck for saw this coming.
So easy for you who has all this technology and wherewithal and manpower to fix this so that so many people worldwide can get back to enjoying their lives. I feel like Google declared war on its customers what should the customers now do I ask all the customers.
I think it's time!! What do I mean we all know what I mean.
In my home I am going on the internet as I finish this and I'm going to price up Amazon products and Apple products and as soon as I find what is capable of doing what I need it's bye-bye.

According to internet sources a CA-certificate has expired. If device had been reset a time shift (before 08.03.25) is required on th googlehome instance to reconnent. In a second step an adminstrative surface on chromcast device can be used to "bypass authentication". Both was working fine for me.
My question: What (tls? -) connections does the cert apply to? question: what impact would it have to leave this setting?
