I have this 2nd gen chromecast I'm trying to get setup in on a monitor in my garage. It's all stuff I had laying around so im not trying to invest to much into this. Anyways the monitor is 1400x900 but accepts resolutions up to 1080p. I would like to run the chromecast at 720p. However it is currently stuck at 640x480. Inside google home, device > video settings nothing is there but a 50hz option. I need to be able to switch to 720p or 1080p. Where are the settings? I've already factory reset it just in case. And that's actually how I know this setup will work.. because during the factory reset it switched to 720p and through most of the setup.. then when it finished setup and restarted it went back to 640x480.

Yeah I've done all that. I just need to figure out how to adjust the display settings. It's the most basic setting that seems to not exist

Thanks for the tips! I'll try updating the Chromecast, checking the monitor settings, and adjusting the resolution through the Google Home app.

Hi Folks,
Thank you for posting here in the community. I'm sorry that you're having trouble finding the settings to change the resolutions with your 2 Gen Chromecast. I understand how difficult it could be. Help is here.
Just to clarify that the resolution settings work with Chromecast with Google TV (HD) and Chromecast with Google TV (4K), and also it depends on the options for resolutions based on the TV's output. I suggest you try with another display or TV, like a smart TV, to see if resolution changes.
Also, if you can find the option, please try the following:
To get started, open your 'Display and Sound' settings.
You can adjust the following display settings, depending on the features available on your TV:
Let me know if you need more assistance.
