I recently purchased Chromecast with Google TV to replace my Roku devices. Long story short, neither would stay connected to WiFi for very long before crashing my WiFi router (Netgear R7800). Bought an ethernet adapter for the first one when I couldn't overcome the issue. Second one was ordered a few weeks later with my hope that WiFi would work and the first one was a glitch. It didn't, same symptoms and crashes, even tried to "power" through it with repeated router restarts trying to get the system update to complete to see if that fixed it. (4 hours of my life I'll never get back)
I spent hours trying to find a "fix" for this, with no luck. Tried every blooming thing suggested out there with no positive results. So, the cure was.....
I reconfigured the router from AP Mode (Access Point) to Router Mode and it all worked just fine.
Hoping this helps others struggling with this issue and the lack of any real support.

Hey there sporteus,
I know this response in very late, but I appreciate you sharing your issue and resolution! I know I have had my fair share of frustrations with getting my router and the Chromecast to play nicely. If you have the time, would you be able to submit feedback via the Google Home app to let Google know about this problem you ran into?
I appreciate your post, and if you had any other questions or concerns, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran
