Samsun Speaker in Google Home but not in Cast List

Hi Folks

This is not specifically a "Chromecast Audio" product issue but not sure where else to post it and I hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have many Google audio products that I cast to from Windows 11 PC and also mobile phone. BUT. I have a Samsung Soundbar Q900 that connects to Google Home via Samsung SmartThings as a linked service. Periodically the soundbar disappears from the cast list or I get an error that it is unavailable or turned off. Sometimes I do a full re-initialization on it to get it back (which is really tedious).

So, today I deleted the device from SmartThings and reconnected it, and I can now see the device in Google Home and turn it on and off from Google Home, so it is obviously connected to the same WIFI network. BUT, it still doesn't appear in the "Cast to" list of speakers. I would have thought that if Google Home can see the speaker, then the "cast to" list would also be able to see it?

Can anyone suggest what might be going on?  Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi fraserp,

We understand that the issue is isolated to your Samsung speaker. Please note that we have very limited support for third-party cast enabled devices such as your Samsung speaker. It is best to report this to Samsung support for better assistance.

If you need help with your Google Home or Nest devices, please do not hesitate to reply on this thread, and we're glad to assist you further.

Regards,
Alex
