Settings not available

Running the Kodi App on Chromecast works fine.

But when Kodi is running and returning to the home screen, it is not possible to go into settings or start the screen saver in Ambient mode.

Is this a sign of too little memory available on the Chromecast?

Hi krogsbell,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. What Chromecast device are you using? Are you trying to run or cast the app and have the Ambient mode running at the same time? I look forward to your response.

Thanks,
Kimy

Hi Kimy!

Chromecast: Chromecast with Google TV 4K

Running Kodi as an app

Hitting home buttom - then I can't go into settings or start the Ambient screen saver.

If I keep in Kodi and wait about 10 minutes the Ambient screen saver starts by itself.

Hi there,

Thanks for the details. I would still need more information to understand this. Do you mean that when you use the Kodi app, it kind of causes problems whenever you try to go to settings (or activate Ambient mode), unlike other apps? Or is this an attempt to have the Kodi app run in the background, which is why you go back to the home screen and try to activate the Ambient mode? Let me know.

Regards,

Kimy

Hi Kimy!

It seems that there has been an update on the Chromecast or Kodi, as it is now working as expected.

Yes I have Kodi running in the background. I play radio from DR P4 or P5, where the Kodi app selects the suitable channel.

At the same time as playing the radio, I am using the Ambient mode to show random pictures from 35 years of marriage 😉
