Hello,
I would like to use a single Google Chromecast device plugged into a single TV or display oriented in a vertical portrait fashion in order to display a portrait photo slideshow of movie posters in my media room.
Is there a setting in the Chromecast to use it in a vertical mode?
Or should I just rotate my source images to compensate?
I was not sure what categories to choose for this post. I assume I would use a current (2022) Chromecast dongle. Maybe I could then use a Google Photos folder that the Chromecast would stream from. Once I figure out if I can display in portrait, I will then research methods for creating a slideshow.
Any examples out there in the Internet would be appreciated. Links to info and/or videos appreciated.
Thank you

Hi handlenyc,
Thanks for reaching out. Currently, there's no option in the Chromecast setting to configure the orientation of the photos that we'll be used for ambient mode, but you can try to rotate it from your source and test.
We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take this as feedback. You can also send feedback about this using the Google Home app. Here's how. Let me know if you still have other questions and concerns, otherwise I will be locking this thread after 24 hours.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hello,
I do not necessarily want to display my posters using Ambient mode. I plan to try various photo slideshow apps. Can the Chromecast be configured in a portrait orientation?
Thank you

Hello there,
Thanks for getting back to us. I'm afraid that feature isn't supported yet. Again, we'll take this as feedback and pass it along to the right team. You may also follow the steps on the link that I've provided above to see how you can send feedback using the Google Home app.
Let me know if you have other questions and concerns as I'll be locking this thread after 24 hrs.
Best,
Jennifer
